Heart with blossoms card

Good afternoon everyone, bit showery here today but
still warmish !  Today I have another DT card made for
'Beccy's Place'  to show you.  This time it's using Beccy's
'Heart with blossoms' digi image. I really enjoy using
Beccy's lovely flower images & this was no exception.
I used my heart nesties to make an easel card for a
change. I just cut and resized Beccy's image for the
front part and for the matching small heart too.I
decoupaged two of the pretty flowers and added some
pearls .These flowers are so pretty I would also
cut them out and use them separately on other cards.
Have a lovely day everyone, I am going
to be making some  rhubarb and ginger jam now :)
ps. A big welcome to Eret as my newest follower and also
now fellow team DT member for Beccy's Place too :)
Please don't forget today and tomorrow are the last
days to enter Beccy's 'August challenge'  too.
For a chance to win some of her super digi's or
be chosen as guest DT for Sept !

Well that sounds an easy one this week, thankyou so

sometimes :) My three 'something's' are three butterflies,
two strips of card ( the blue ones) and one gem. More PP
brocade papers again I do love them ( as you may well
have guessed by now lol).I am loving using blue too for
a change, maybe it's all the heat we have had lately,
such a cooling colour blue.Sorry rambling again I fear,
I will just show you my card now :)..... have a great

Lion card

Good afternoon everyone, another lovely sunny day again here.
Today I have  another DT card ,made for 'Beccy's Place' the
last in the safari animal digi's set. This time it's a 'Lion', most
appropriate for me seeing as I am a Leo. I decided to go for
a very bright card for a change. The image reminded me of a lion
basking in the midday sun, surrounded by lots of sunny yellow.
So I used distress ink for my card , I hope it reminds you of
the hot sun we have had lately ( well here anyway). The summer
arrived after a long time this year and was most welcome.A big
welcome to my latest followers too.Do look at Beccy's August
challenge too for a chance to win some of her digi's or be chosen
as a  guest designer for September.
ps. I have had terrible mosquito bites on my legs. I always react badly
to them anyway but these looked horrid.Serves me right sitting in the
garden one night later than usual .They are getting better now I
 am glad to say.

Rhinoceros card

Good afternoon everyone !..... bit cooler today but still in the
twenties here. Loving all this glorious summer weather, I hope you
have it too. Here is another DT card made for 'Beccy's Place'
again. We are still following an animal theme and this time it's a
'Rhinocerous' . I think Beccy has drawn some amazing animal
digi's. Just one more to go then we have a wedding theme :)
I used some Pink Petticoat papers again but this time I cut into
them to make them look like grass.I coloured him as if he had just
 been wallowing in mud....well I think it's a he . Have a great
day everyone !

Swirly sea card

It's week 81 over at 'Less is More' & this time it's a theme
Tearing
I decided to use my watercolouring paper for a change. I
didn't make the mistake of using it as a card base this time
as I find any card warps when you wet it....lesson learned
there. I just used them as panels , the swirliness of the blue
reminded me of water and foam swirling around, although
it could also be sky too I suppose.Anway I went with a sea
theme and added white embossed swirls and then some deeper
blue inking .I used some tearing at the bottom of each panel
& added some glamour dust amongst the 'spray' .I will add
a sentiment when I decide who to send it too.
ps. another hot day here again, we are in and out of the pool .
My son and family came yesterday and are coming again today
lol ....the draw of the cool  swimming pool is enough I think.
My grandson  joined us too this time for a brief paddle
 and loved it, pic below.

Yellow flowers card

Good morning everyone, hope you are well and enjoying
this fabulous weather. Summer has arrived at long last! Just
had a lovely swim ( we have an above ground outside
swimming pool) , managed to get it cleaned and sorted at last.
Not an easy job, hoovering/adding chemicals etc. but we got
there in the end. We are expecting our youngest son and family
for a swim later and a bbq :) Just got time to add this card with the
yellow flowers on I added a tutorial for yesterday. Then I am off to
make scones for afternoon tea and more swimming again. I think
these flowers look far better on a card than they did just by
themselves do you agree?? Have a good weekend everyone
 whatever you are planning :)

Flower tutorial

Hi everyone, another hot day here again, hope you have the sun too.
I have been asked by a few people to do a tutorial on how I make
my handmade flowers. Not that I am at all brilliant by any means
but they look ok...I think. I have tried several methods and adapted
other tutorials I have seen so won't leave links to other tutorials here.
There are plenty about if you look  but these are just what I found
works best for me. I will just show you pictures as I am not into
doing videos etc. I am afraid :) First I cut my flower shapes out.
These will make two finished flowers , I make mine two at a time
anyway. You will need three flower shapes for one basic flower,
but feel free to add as many layers as you please. I often use four or five.
You can either use fancy scissors or dies/punches but you are after a round
shape ( if using fancy scissors) or any flower shape you choose if
using dies. If using  fancy scissors cut a circular shape then starting
from the edge  go in concentric circles until you get to the middle. Then
you just use a cocktail stick and wind it around loosely, let go, then glue
at intervals. Colour the same as below, either with a Promarker or distress inks.
When using dies I found I like the TH Rose Creations dies or the TH Tattered
floral dies best & also an Xcut punch too for the smaller middle flower.
I use card mostly as it stands up to 'wetting' better than paper
but you can  use paper if you want. Just make sure the paper is quite
thickish  though. Here I used some linen  card 255 gsm, I use bits left
over from making my square cards. I first cut six flower shapes,
four from the die below & two cut with the x cut punch. Then
I used a yellow Promarker (  Summer sun or Canary) to
shade  the edges. I then take the first two I coloured & lightly
spray with water, don't wet too much. Start to crinkle them,
( that's a technical term he he). I wrap the ends around a pencil
and squidge them a bit side to side and up and down.Do it VERY
gently or it will tear. I then dry them using my heat gun, holding
them down with a pair of tweezers. The next two flower shapes
are coloured with some distress ink ( I used TH mustard seed).
Just dab it all over,( I  dab the ink onto an acylic rectangle, then I
use a sponge ,then spray with water again. That part is VERY messy,
your hands will be yellow....very yellow! Crinkle as before and dry
those also ( if you are impatient like me...otherwise leave until dry.)
Colour the remaining two flowers with the Promarker again but
this time colour it all over. Crinkle, then dry. These last two flowers
are crinkled a lot ! 'scrunch' and 'crinkle' them well :)
Leave the last ones crinkled almost completely as you dry them
as they are for the centres. He he... so much 'crinkling' and 'scrunching',
even I am laughing at this description now! All  very technical terms you
understand ....ahem. Right next we have 'assembly', the easy part I am
glad to say.I use Anita's tacky glue but any strong glue will do really.
Start with the flower you edged with the Promarker, add a bit of glue to the
centre then atatch the next flower. Then add the next one, then the
'really scrumpled' up one in the middle.I add random bits of glue to some
edges, then cover with glamour dust. That's it, two pretty flowers.
.......................well I hope they are lol. Hope that was clear enough.
I will make a card with these two flowers next just to show you how
they look on a card :)
Update!....I added a card with these flowers on the next day, see next post !
New update July 2013.......I tend to use TH distress inks to colour my flowers now.

I used 4 of the bottom flower shapes here ( Tattered Floral Die)
I used 2 of these flower shapes
Here they are cut out
Coloured edges and right one is wetted and crinkled

Two right ones crinkled, middle ones are done with distress inks & crinkled, right pair still left white
Last two on left coloured with a Promarker
After colouring and 'crinkling'
After assembly !
Dot bits with glue & add glamour dust for sparkle !

Elephant card

Good morning everyone ! we have lovely hot sunny weather
here today, I hope you have it too. It's my DIL's birthday today
so we are on babysitting duties later. Just time to post this card.
It's another DT card made for 'Beccy's Place' again, another
of her sarafi animal digi's.I think such a lot of people love
elephants so I hope this is a popular image with everyone.
Anyway enough rambling......here is my card with Beccy's
lovely 'Elephant' digi. I used my ribbler/crimper again for the
white layer and added some stripes with a Promarker too.

Camel card

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you all have this lovely hot
weather today. I sat outside for a while but it was boiling, so
I have come inside for a while to do this post.  Here is another
DT card made for 'Beccy's Place' again. As you can see we
are still on safari yet lol. This lovely 'Camel' digi image was so
easy to colour . There are another three images to come yet in this
series, an Elephant, a  Rhinoceros & a Lion. All such outstanding
digi's too, I just didn't know which to play with first ! I used PP
papers  again and also my ribbler/crimper to add a bit of texture
to the card.Hard to see though, it's the stripey bit which is
horizontal here. I used Beccy's uncoloured image which comes with
a matching sentiment. There are three images with this digi,
(as with all of this  particular set) a  coloured one, a black and
white one and a black and white one with sentiment.
Don't forget Beccy's August challenge too!
